Having learned from former producers, I took a shot at producing a record by myself.  Returning somewhat to the “I Found A Deeper Love” model, “From Within,” takes the listener on a ride through the diverse styles that radiate from my musicality and the musicality of others. With John Barnes and “producer in training” Georgia Anne Muldrow in the backseat (but very present), I took my own turns for the most part. John’s brilliant suggestion for me to find a REAL (for real) reggae band to play “ALL in ALL,” was an excellent one.  What an experience THAT was.

A brilliantwooden flute player from Nepal (Manose), a great percussionist from Brazil (Paulinho DaCosta), FOUR fantastic guitarists (Keb Mo, David Neal, G’Mo and the incredible Phil Upchurch); a host of incrediblemusicians which included Rob McDonald (bass), Tony St. James (drums), John Barnes (keyboards) and Karen Briggs (violin!) all deliver solid performances that ground the songs. The difference in this record and the former records is that I play piano on all the rhythm tracks. I wanted to play WITH the band this time and have the initial rhythm tracks centered on my style.
